-
Ensure each product is properly labeled, including the manufacturer’s and importer’s details, and any necessary safety warnings or instructions.

FAQ
Do I need to include all my products in the GPSR technical file?
- You don’t need to list every single item individually. Group your products by category, material, or type, then create a single record for each group in the GPSR technical file.
- A risk assessment must be prepared for each product or product group you place on the EU market, ensuring every item is covered. Packaging and labeling requirements also apply to all these groups.
- Accessories or components (like a case) that are part of the main product don’t require separate entries. You’ll receive templates or technical sheets as guidance to help fill compliance gaps across product groups.
Where and how do I show the EU Responsible Person on my product?
- The Responsible Person’s details (name, address, and preferably a customer support email for GPSR compliance) should appear clearly and be unique for each product/package.
- Information can be included on the label, packaging, and where required, as a sticker (depends on the country). If applicable, include the email address directly on the packaging; if not, a contact email on the website may be sufficient, but a direct email is better for compliance.
- Labels and packaging must be compliant and reviewed in line with country regulations. Documentation and technical files should also contain the Responsible Person’s information.
- It’s critical to ensure translations, pictograms, and warnings are present where required by local regulation.
How detailed must GPSR risk assessments and technical documentation be?
- Risk assessments must include packaging type, weight, and safety warnings—in addition to material composition. Translations of warnings and instructions are mandatory for all countries where the product is sold, with no room for interpretation.
- Risk assessments can be extremely detailed, covering every point of compliance. Templates and assistance are provided to ensure all compliance gaps are addressed, and if needed, our team can help with compiling, reviewing, and storing technical files.
- Technical documentation must list product/brand names, responsible person contact details, pictograms, recycling information, and need only to be revised if you change product type or materials. Warnings must be present and translated on the product label. For the technical file, include a technical sheet covering materials, packaging, and intended use—this is required for each product group. You’ll get templates to help standardize documentation and ensure nothing is missed.
- Our team can help clarify product compliance and fill in gaps. If there’s a specific compliance method needed, we can consult among colleagues to provide tailored guidance.
Do I need testing for all products under GPSR?
- If you apply a CE mark (for example, for toys or similar), this triggers obligations under EU regulations, including required testing such as EN71 and the declaration of conformity.
- Every product must have a risk assessment demonstrating safety—this is a universal GPSR requirement, even if formal test reports are not always demanded.”
- Actual lab testing isn’t mandatory for all products, but you should keep supplier test records (like REACH) to prove products are free from harmful chemicals. Even if not formally requested, having these documents is strongly recommended.”
- The depth and necessity of testing depend on your product type. For toys and regulated items, testing is compulsory; for many general products, risk analysis and documentation suffice.
Does my product fall under additional harmonised EU rules besides GPSR?
- For products such as acrylic paints for example, additional regulations (such as CLP and TOIS) apply. The general labeling guidance is universal, but specific requirements exist for products falling under these other regulations.
- You don’t need to guess — we review your products and tell you if extra legislation applies.
- Examples: RED for electronics, Toy Directive, Cosmetics Regulation, PPE Regulation, etc
Where are you located?
Our company structure is that of our US based company as the holding company of EU Compliance Partner, with offices in different EU countries such as Germany and Estonia from which we operate and provide the representation. We have multiple offices throughout the world allowing us to work internationally in different compliance areas. Our European subsidiaries are located in the EU countries of Estonia and Germany. Since our holding company is incorporated in the US, you will receive our quotation in USD issued from the US.
How much effort do I have for GPSR compliance?
- Our team can review and approve compliance documents very quickly—often the same day or within 24 hours of changes. Full documentation reviews and packaging registrations typically take three to ten working days, and packaging reviews alone can be finished within 48 hours.
- Providing templates, guiding you through technical documentation, and advising on packaging requirements makes things much faster and more efficient.
- Translating safety instructions and documentation into all target EU languages requires real work and can be the most significant part of the effort for multi-country sales. Also, focus on including the right information and recycling pictograms on the packaging. That’s the core compliance effort.
- We double-check that the labeling, pictograms, and recycling info meet, not just general EU, but each specific country’s guidance, keeping your compliance stress minimal.
What is a technical file?
It’s a detailed evaluation of your product and risk analysis containing a technical sheet needed for certain products. It does not include the actual laboratory tests rather it will tell you what tests or certificates will be needed. Ensuring your product’s packaging, labeling, and safety meet EU regulations.
We will need your digital packaging file and depending on product complexity the actual physical product, to assess it properly.
This is essential for certain products selling in the EU market and verifies compliance with standards on materials, labeling, and safety.
I don't have documents for my products — can I still comply with GPSR?
- You must have correct labeling on your product and packaging, with safety warnings and instructions translated into the official languages for the countries where you sell. There’s no room for interpretation on this.
- If you have products in stock before December 13, 2024, a transitional clause allows you to sell them without relabeling, provided they were already available online. Still, having GPSR details and recycling pictograms is important.
- Testing isn’t strictly mandatory, but you must be able to prove your products are free from harmful chemicals. If you don’t have test results, that’s a risk because if an inspection finds chemicals, a recall could be enforced.
- The process can be straightforward—even without documents—since templates can be provided to help you create compliant technical documentation, labeling, and pictograms for each market.
Do you also provide an address as part of the Responsible Person Service?
Yes, we provide an address as part of our Responsible Person Service, which is essential for Amazon sellers targeting the EU market. Our address is our subsidiary office address within the EU.
How long does it take?
Assessing your products by our compliance team may take up to 2 working days. You will receive our certificate, address and guide on the same day of payment.
How can We Help?
EU Compliance Partner offers a specialized service for Amazon sellers needing a ‘Responsible Person for Non-Food Products.’ With extensive experience in regulatory representation, our experts are well-versed in European directives, regulations, and standards across various products. We have extensive experience working with market surveillance authorities and will professionally handle any inquiries from them.
What happens if I don’t comply with GPSR?
If you fail to comply with the GPSR regulations, you could face penalties from EU authorities, including product recalls, fines, and potential bans on selling non-compliant products in the EU.
While Amazon itself may not directly suspend your store, non-compliance could lead to the removal of listings or accounts being flagged, especially if your products are found to pose a safety risk or if you cannot provide the necessary documentation when requested.
Why must we appoint a responsible person and can this role be fulfilled by a friend?
According to GPSR must appoint a qualified responsible person in the EU for compliance with local regulations. This role can be fulfilled by a registered entity or a qualified individual, but not typically by a friend or simple a mailbox without relevant expertise. While Amazon, eBay or other marketplaces will accept just any type of EU contact, in case of requests by authorities this will lead to unforeseen additional issues. Keep in mind the whole point of GPSR is to have a proper representation for market surveillance in case of issues with your products compliance
Who is responsible for labeling products with the responsible person details?
Sellers are responsible for providing and labeling their products with the responsible person details.
What specific documentation and labeling requirements are necessary for compliance with the GPSR?
Sellers must provide clear labeling that includes the responsible person's name and contact details, along with any necessary safety documentation required for the product.
Businesses must ensure that products do not pose a risk to the health and safety of consumers and that these measures are documented and easily accessible for regulatory inspection.
Once sellers add the needed information to their listings, will it be visible to buyers before purchase?
The added information will typically be visible to potential buyers before purchase, allowing them to assess compliance and make informed decisions prior to buying.
Will the GPSR regulations apply to sellers in the UK?
What specific product categories are most affected by the new GPSR regulations?
- Toys and Childcare Products: Products aimed at children are subject to strict safety standards, and any risks related to choking, toxic materials, or sharp edges could trigger recalls and stricter compliance checks.
- Electronics and Electrical Appliances: Items that pose electrical hazards or fire risks, such as faulty wiring or overheating, will face closer scrutiny under the GPSR.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Products like helmets, safety gear, and medical devices will need to demonstrate compliance with EU health and safety standards, especially if they are intended for critical use.
- Cosmetics and Personal Care Products: These items must comply with stringent safety regulations, particularly concerning harmful chemicals or allergens that could pose health risks.
- Furniture and Household Products: Items that could cause injury due to structural issues, flammability, or toxic materials will be subject to rigorous compliance standards under the new GPSR.
Where can sellers find clear and reliable information about these regulations?
Sellers can consult official EU websites, such as the European Commission's website, and industry associations. Additionally, local chambers of commerce and legal advisors specializing in trade law can provide valuable guidance.
Does your service cover all of my products?
- The service covers all products for EPR/GPSR and compliance, including packaging, electronics and batteries. Registration is mandatory in the EU, even for just one product.
- For every product type, we offer review and guidance on packaging, labeling, and translation requirements. Support is provided for all aspects, such as compliance notifications and technical sheets.
- In some cases, if your catalog is exceptionally large or diverse, we’ll assess the best approach together and tailor the support level accordingly, ensuring you’re not paying more than you need to.
- While we support most needs in-house (labels, documentation, EPR, product reviews), we do not directly manage Seller Central accounts for Amazon, but everything else for European compliance is included.
- Different categories may require specific reviews or classification (for example, CLP for chemicals). If product materials or types change, only those new items need additional compliance reviews.
How do I add new products later?
- If product materials don’t change, there’s no need to update the compliance report. New types of products do require review and specific EU regulatory checks.
- Our team manages all EPR requirements—simply notify us of new items, and we’ll review labeling, packaging, and documentation for every new product or category added.
- Whenever you add a new product, ensure updated labels, translations, packaging compliance, and technical documentation (like the GPSR file); we support market launches and can provide tailored quotes, including for multi-country expansion.
Packaging & labeling — what do I need?
- Packaging must show type, weight, (sometimes) material composition, and all safety warnings/instructions must be translated into official EU market languages. Customer support emails and responsible person/address info are required.
- “Label requirements vary by country—some markets (like Italy and France) need specific recycling statements or pictograms. All packaging/labels must be checked against local and EU-wide rules and have required translations, warnings, and compliance symbols.
- For print-on-demand products, labeling must always be accessible to the end consumer, either on the packaging or as an insert.
- Additional mandatory details can include responsible person, date of minimum durability, precautionary warnings, country of origin, electronics addresses, and manufacturer details.
- UK does not require recycling symbols.
How do I fill out the technical file self-assessment sheet?
- Fill out the self-assessment sheet by grouping products by category or type—there’s no need to do it individually for every product.
- If product materials don’t change, you do not need to update the self-assessment sheet.
- Use the provided template (Google sheet) and list your intended product groups for sale—one record per group. Enter all relevant data by group for compliance.
Is your EU Responsible Person service a flat yearly price?
- Standard Responsible Person rates start at $500 per year for low-risk or smaller catalogs; higher or more complex categories can be up to $800/year.
- Discounted offers may apply (e.g., $300 for the first year if you already use other services, or $500 for subsequent years).
- Pricing can also depend on the number of products and countries involved, and might include country-specific notification fees or multi-country discounts.
- There are cases where smaller or narrowly-defined registrations are offered as low as US$159 plus registration fees (€80/year for example) or rolled up in a broader compliance offer.
How does the technical file service work?
- You fill out a technical sheet template (spreadsheet) by product group—if the materials don’t change, you don’t need to update the file. New types or materials need a new group and regulatory review.
- The service reviews technical sheets for compliance, assesses documentation gaps, checks packaging/labels, and gives guidance on recommendations and any further tests needed.
- The output (technical file and compliance report) is intended for your internal use and is based on a shared drive setup for each product. The team supports completion and will review or advise on each step, including country-specific requirements when necessary.
Will Amazon check my technical file?
- Sellers are responsible for risk assessments and technical documentation for every product sold in the EU; Amazon simply expects compliance and may request this documentation at any time.
- If you’re asked for a technical file by Amazon, they’re likely responding to a compliance flag or external report—so keeping documentation complete and up to date is important.
- Most of the time, Amazon follows up with a warning or a requirement to update labels or files, allowing you time to become compliant rather than facing immediate listing removal.
Does Amazon require labels with EU RP info?
- Labels must clearly include the manufacturer’s and the responsible person’s information—especially the EU Responsible Person’s name, address, and email—for Amazon compliance.
- Packaging must also have GPSR information and recycling pictograms, and we support the use of translated stickers with the FBO address as needed.
- Products will not pass Amazon’s compliance checks without proper Responsible Person labeling; a one-time label review is available to ensure all requirements are met.
